Every few days when I add new torrents, Download Station does not download them. They just sit there doing nothing. I found two ways to fix this, hopefully there will be a software update soon.
Fix 1: In Download Station go to, Settings, BT, PT, Change "Software" to any other setting besides custom. Hit Apply. Wait a few minutes and it will download again.
Fix 2: Restart Download Station from the App Center. (This is longer to do than Fix 1).
Anyone else seeing this?
Matt

I use DL all the time and don't see this. What version firmware? What version DL station?Use the forum search feature before posting.
Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

I have this problem
I have been doing the fix where you close download station and start it up again. I have had this problem for as long as I can remember!

Just got a new firmware today, March 17, version 4.3.6.0883. Going to see if this makes any difference. Interesting someone else is also having the issue, glad I'm not alone!

I'm still experiencing the same issue on TS-453Be running latest firmware (4.4.1.1117) and Download Station (5.6.3.152). When there are no ongoing download tasks and I add e.g. new torrent magnet links to be downloaded, they stay stuck with the "Downloading metadata" status unless I use one of the workarounds mentioned in the original post. Then, once the initial download tasks have started, adding new ones work fine. But, after all the tasks have finished and Download Station has been idle for some time, downloading new links stop working again.
I got the NAS a couple of months ago and for the first few weeks everything worked fine but then the problem appeared (probably right after either performing a FW update or updating the Download Station app/service). Anyone have any suggestions how to get the issue properly fixed for good, without needing to change the software (under Settings -> BT -> PT) or restarting the Download Station service every time I want to start downloading something.

Any solution to this? I’m having the exact same problem. Some magnet links stay shown as the beginning of the magnet address. Some do change to the download and succeed.

Same issue here. The question, I think, is what’s hanging at idle that stopping and restarting the service or changing the PT setting is waking up?
(That said, BLESS the first person I found who mentioned the PT workaround, which is WAY less hassle than a stop/start.)

I have the same problem, from. ever, I think.
TS-453 Pro. With every firmware (now updated at 4.4.3.1381, and Download Station 5.6.3.157).
Before to start, I check the Magnet (for example on checker DOT openwebtorrent DOT com). They are working, and with plenty of seeds.
I copypaste them into Download Station, with "Input URL", and they stay there forever.
The trick of changing the "engine" in the D.S. options works, however usually I also have to "Select All / Stop", then "Select All / Play".
After that, it works like a charm, and I usually can keep adding Magnets with no issues, at least for a while.
But, after a while (I can't find the exact amount of time, really), he "hangs", and I need to do one of the proposed tricks. I have the feeling (not proven) that it keep working while I have the browser open, with my user logged in, and the D.S. window opened. If I close the browser, and I login again, often I find it "hanged up", even if few minutes are passed.
Initially I thought it was a problem with my VPN connection ('cause another trick that usually works, while not optimal, it's going in the App Center, and near the [v] sign aside to OPEN button, under the D.S. icon, you can change the "Connect To", from the standard gateway to the VPN, for example. I suppose this do the trick 'cause it stops D.S. then it restart it again.
If can be useful, I see the popup message "Qsirch synchronizing changes" (something like that). Maybe it's just 'cause the things start to work again, so it senses file changes, however sometime I see the popup coming for a lot of times (while the torrent is just 1 file, so I don't think it's warning me of continous changes).
Of course, it's very annoying. Doubly because if I have let's say 20 magnets, and 18 in queque because with my line I usually download no more than one or two, the magnets in the queque cannot start normally, when the firsts are done, for the problem up here. So I need to manually login, doing some mumbo jumbo, and hoping they start.

Report the problem to QNAP or it will never get fixed.Use the forum search feature before posting.
